"By a Waterfall," from Footlight Parade, 1933. The film stars James Cagney, who plays a character easily seen to be Busby Berkeley himself. This second of three hugely staged music/dance numbers is the apotheosis of the film and surely one of the most sensational Busby Berkeley numbers ever. Please see the representation of the newly emerging zipper shown at 4:00.

Some wonderful vintage photos from NYC.
It's easy to see why we like red at this time of year

Today I listed some cheery red vintage items, so hitch your reindeer, fly over to my store, and search red!
Some of the choices:

(Frankly, I wouldn't worry about that Santa My Dear!)
Frothy vintage gowns with lofty aspirations!
Pulling mostly from past sales, here's my newest Flickr set, vintage gowns of tulle, taffeta, lace and just generally loft.

One of the all-time greatest vintage kisses

Although we can't see the faces of the kissers in this iconic photo, Edith Shain has long claimed to be the woman. Shain, now 90, is scheduled to be the grand marshal of New York's Veterans Day parade tomorrow.
She describes this moment, caught by the photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt, as a spontaneous kiss with a total stranger in Times Square on VJ Day in August of 1945, the day WWII ended.
Miss Shain, when pressed by a BBC interviewer, described the kiss as "wonderful."
It's a (vintage) party at denisebrain!
